Education is the first leg of the knowledge economy

On the 3rd day of the Induction training on Pedagogical Competency for teachers facilitated by NSF Developments Limited in Ekiti State, the Executive Governor of Ekiti state, H.E Kayode Fayemi, ably represented by his Deputy, H.E Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi made a stop to observe the process.

He was accompanied by the S.A to the governor on Basic, Vocational and secondary Education, Professor Florence Aladejana, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Femi Akinwumi, and other senior management staff of the Ekiti SUBEB.

In the Executive Governor's speech delivered by the Deputy Governor, H.E Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, he noted that the programme, among other things, is designed to sharpen their skills as professional teachers and prepare them for the task ahead.
Governor Fayemi affirmed the state's commitment to boost the standard of education in Ekiti state. He said that the state had embarked on massive reconstruction of dilapidated structures and started the construction of new ones in several public primary and secondary schools in the state.

He added: "It is a known fact that education is the first leg of the knowledge economy pillar of this administration," he asserted.
He urged the teachers to see their pupils as their children, stating that whatever they make of them is what their tomorrow will be to society.
He stated that the inputs will determine the outputs. "... I urge you to be teachers and not cheaters." he averred.
In her remarks, S.A to the governor on Basic, Vocational and Secondary Education, Professor Florence Aladejana encouraged the new teachers to be diligent in their profession as teachers.
The lead trainer, NSF Developments Limited, Dr. Akintunde Akinnusi thanked Ekiti state government for the opportunity to train the newly employed teachers. He implored the participants to embrace the opportunity to improve their teaching techniques.

He admonished them to endeavor to meet expectations, and apply 21st-century skills in order to produce dynamic and self-reliant students.
Also present at the event were the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) representative, Mr. Ibrahim Jika, and the Ekiti State Coordinator, Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Mr. Olorunshola Isreal.
In closing, H.E Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi presented the trainees with their employment letters to officially mark the end of the training session.
